Privatized Student Housing

According to a recent article published on both Multifamily Executive and Student Housing Planet, privatized student housing was first tested 18 years ago at Langston University in Oklahoma. Today, it is a booming preference for developers, as seen with the University of Kentucky’s decision to outsource its entire campus-housing portfolio to Memphis, Tenn.– based REIT EdR.

“We’re excited to see the growth toward privatized student housing, because we think it gives developers more options to customize living spaces, and in turn, attracts more students to opt for on-campus living.”Keller Webster, KWA President

KWA’s experience with privatized student housing includes The Village on Grand and The Flats at Brockett Court. What do you think of this growing trend? Comment here or tweet us (@kwaconstruction) your thoughts and experience with privatized developments.
